Meeting the In-laws

Dear Wray,

Please forgive the lateness of this email to tell you how happy I was to meet you! Thanks for making the trip, as I know how busy you and my sister have been and how much traveling you both do to see each other. You clearly are in love with my sister as she is with you and I am so happy for you both! Although our time together was brief, I could see how much you care for her and that is so important to me. She is so important to me, I can't tell youhow thrilled I am that you two met. I really believe meeting you has changed her life! I hope we did not scare you away, ha! It's pretty intimidating to meet your new in-laws all at once. We can be a rowdy group, but we really do have some good qualities, you'll see. I look forward to the wedding, getting to know you and having a long and lasting relationship. Please come west when you get a chance, we have plenty of room. Everyone should see the grand canyon at least once!Take care and let me know when your plans are finalized. I spoke with Susie this morning and she thinks the house is sold!!!!

Kathy

Dear Kathy,

How good to hear from you. I've looked forward to meeting everyone who matters to Susie, but I have been especially keen on meeting you because I know how close you and she are. I can see why she treasures you. All of the Passmores (and nee Passmores) have been so warm and welcoming. I look forward to getting to know all of you better over the years. And you are right: I love your sister fiercely. I will take good care of her.
I am sorry we did not have more time to chat. I have lots of questions about your kids, your work, your studies. I pick up some from Susie, but perhaps we'll end up e-mailing a bit ourselves?
I am also sorry that I cannot accompany Susie to Portland for Matt's wedding. I tease about being "disinvited," but the fact is that both of our summers have suddenly become way overbooked. My youngest, Morgan, arrives next week and will be with me until late August. I love having him, but we also have so much up in the air with the move etc. If the house does sell this week (keep your fingers crossed), we are targeting early September for the transition, but we could actually start moving Susie's things down much sooner than that. It's nice that all your sibs will be gathering for that important event.
Finally, we will get out to visit you soon I am sure. We both like the idea of vacationing at Bryce, Zion, northern rim after the wedding, but even if that does not work out we will no doubt come your way. I have never explored that region of the country, so look forward to it.
Thanks so much for writing.

Albest, Wray
